01 / THE SOCIETY
A village society.
A love of the game.
Good courses, friendly competition and familiar faces.
We bring together golfers from Stoke Fleming and regulars at the Green Dragon for society days across South Devon. Every outing is a chance to enjoy a different course, share a few stories and get another round in.
From the first tee to the 19th, it’s the company that makes it.

01 Handicaps & fair competition +
A maximum handicap of 28 applies to players without a WHS handicap or who do not play regularly. Regular players with WHS handicaps may have their handicap reviewed and adjusted by the committee based on performance over a number of games. Overall competition winners receive a one-stroke handicap cut.
02 Competition formats +
The committee agrees the format before each competition is booked. Recognised formats include Texas Scramble and better ball. Check the details for each society day.
03 Pace of play +
Play ready golf when safe, walk directly to your ball and plan your shot ahead. Keep practice swings and pre-shot routines brief. Take the clubs you need, and leave bags towards the next tee. Read putts while others putt. Play a provisional if your ball may be lost or out of bounds; the search limit is three minutes.
04 Membership & society kit +
Membership is for Stoke Fleming residents or regular patrons of the Green Dragon. The supplied rules currently limit membership to men, with specific open competitions where women are invited to play. Members are encouraged to obtain a society polo and wear it to organised competitions where possible.
